Monitoring the Boya Barcode Calibration Range
In an effort to provide accurate and tracible results of spirit levelling, Landgate maintains a physical Staff Calibration Range and provides this online processing system and associated guidelines. The range is located at Boya and comprises of 2 observing pillars and 21 pins set in a granite outcrop. Click here to see the access diagrams and location of the pins.
Regular measurements of the range carried out by Landgate over the years indicated seasonal variations of up to 1 mm (see figure below), thereby mandating the development of this time-dependent calibration system.
